Managing Workplace Bullying and Sexual Harassment

INTRODUCTION:

The Code of Practice on The Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Harassment at the work place was launched by the Ministry of Human Resources in 1999. Workplace bullying and sexual harassment is persistent pattern of mistreatment from others in the workplace that causes either physical or emotional harm and psychological. It can include such tactics as verbal, nonverbal, psychological, and physical abuse, as well as humiliation. This type of workplace aggression is particularly difficult because, unlike the typical workplace bullies and sexual harassment often operate within the established rules and policies of their organization.
In the majority of cases, bullying and sexual harassment in the workplace must be reported and these reports has to be taken seriously by the organization and most of the time it has been done by someone in the company or even those in authority over the victim. However, bullies can also be peers, and rarely subordinate this includes foreign workers.
Now, with the amended Employment Act 1955 which include Sexual Harassment, employers may be liable to fine of up to RM50,000.00 for failing to investigate complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace. Thus, this course able to help organization and also participants to know more about workplace bullying and sexual harassment.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

Methodology:
This course utilizes an interactive lecture approach with an emphasis on discussions which include participants sharing details of their workplace experiences. Trainer’s Profile

Ms. Camen holds an Executive Human Resources Management qualification from SEGi College and MICLOH Consulting Group in 2023, an Advanced Human Resources Certification from Power Up Academy in the same year, and a Certification of Literature in Chinese from the University of Wuhan, China, in 2014. Additionally, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Hons) Hotel Management from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) between 2011 and 2014.

In the realm of professional qualifications, she holds several certifications: International Hypnotherapist Association (IHA) Certified Hypnotherapist in 2019, HRD Corporation Certified Trainer in 2022, and membership in the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM) since 2023. Moreover, Camen is the Vice Secretary of the Malaysian Young Movement (YMM) since 2023 and currently serves as the Secretary General of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Iskandar Puteri since 2024.

Camen’s journey in the field of Human Resources commenced at Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour, Johor, where she served as the Service Manager for Human Resources & Training for a commendable 4.5 years, spanning from 2014 to 2018. Subsequently, she joined UMLAND Hospitality Sdn Bhd in the capacity of Human Resources Manager, where she further honed her managerial skills over 1.5 years, from 2020 to 2021. She transitioned to AEM INTERNATIONAL SDN BHD, an entity owned by AEM Academies Pte Ltd, as a Human Resources Business Partner. Here, she continued to excel in her role for an additional 2 years, from 2021 to 2022.
