Petrol station owner fined RM25,000 for failure to submit GST statement

SHAH ALAM: A petrol station owner was fined RM25,000 by the Sessions Court here today for failure to submit the Goods and Services Tax (GST) statements to the Customs Department. Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid also ordered Rosemani Mohd Saludin, 59, to be imprisoned for five month if she failed to pay the fine. Rosemani paid the fine. Earlier, she pleaded guilty to five counts of failing to submit the statement for the months of June, July, August, September and October 2015, as stipulated under Subsection 41 (1) of the GST Act 2014. She committed the offences at the Kuala Lumpur Customs Complex, 22, Jalan SS 6/3, Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya near here on Aug 1, 2015 and Nov 1, 2015. Rosemani was charged under Section 41 (6) of the GST Act 2014 which carries maximum fine of RM50,000 or three years imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.
